The Beatles Showing Their Klout

I love and value the conversations that happen online with the many bright, engaging and expressive people in the socialsphere.

Recently Jure Klepic (@JKCallas) opened a discussion on Facebook about how to remove a profile completely from Klout while also highlighting their questionable data gathering and business practices. It is a very healthy discussion to keep going and many of us appreciate Jure’s persistence, tenacity and engagement surrounding all things Klout. That said, we must also take pause at times for some laughs and fun at Klout’s expense.

This morning’s cup of coffee (Starbucks Christmas Blend w/honey and half & half) inspired me to rewrite a Beatles classic in honor of our good friend Jure. I think George Harrison (my favorite Beatle) would be happy with this arrangement as it follows the spirit of his attack on high levels of British progressive tax in the 1960′s. In this case we just poke fun and attack the dodgy (what a great word) data collection and manipulation practices of Klout.

loiscreamer Lois - so glad you loved it and I really appreciate the RT's. I have no reason to get off of Klout. I think they are a young organization with young management and not a lot of experience in the realm of PR and Brand Management. That said, all this is intended to give them feedback directly or indirectly so they can improve. I really do not decide who I interact with based on a score. +K is the thing I like as there are so many great people doing great things that it is an easy way to give shoutouts.

Absolutely LOVE IT, JB. The irony is that Tax Man was never a favorite Beatles song of mine but I think KloutMan will be!

BruceSallan Taxman was never a huge fave of mine but it got George Harrison writing more songs so it gets some respect for sure. The lyrics were too tempting and too easy to morph into a post poking fun at Klout. Glad you enjoyed it. You think the Klout team did as well?

Terrific! Reading this while listening to the Beatles sing Taxman is the perfect end to my day. Thanks to @danielnewmanUV for tweeting this. I see a lot of familiar faces here. janetcallaway Aloha Janet. Thanks for the compliment. I like the fun posts that flow into WordPress. Yes this is meant to be fun but the digs are in there as well. Loved the Forbes post and although Klout should be taking note of the conversations, not sure if they will engage to clear things up. We will see and it is their serve so to speak. GovLiquidation You know I never thought of that. I would say John based on the current Klout algorithm and bet Ringo took a 20+ point drop this past Fall. :-) So glad you enjoyed it. Hope it got the endorphins going.
