We hit the practice studio for the first time following our Winter hiatus and plan to make a few appearances in 2011. Our mission is to have fun jamming music locally in Austin, Texas and show kids how much fun playing music can be. The band’s hope is to make enough of an impression to encourage kids to start an instrument and make playing music part of their lives.
The Daddyz formed in late 2009 to play one song at our kid’s elementary school talent show (Blister in the Sun – with custom lyrics) and had such a blast we kept going. The four of us are all dads with nine children between us.
The band members are Pete Eppele, vocals/ bass; John Boyle, vocals/ guitar; Gene Fruge vocals/percussion; and Cy Albertson, drummers all of who show no signs of growing up. Each of us is a very dedicated father with a day job and a intense passion for music.
2010 saw the Daddyz gigging around our Austin, TX neighborhoods at the Riverplace Elementary Talent Show, Spring Carnival, a popular local watering hole, monthly “Flamingo Friday” parties and a Halloween bash.
Time is tight working and raising kids so we welcomed the Winter break. I personally cannot wait to get back in the groove tonight.

School districts all over the country are cutting programs and one of the first to go are the arts. It seemed when we were kids, everyone took music lessons and all knew how to play an instrument. In today’s economy families have to make tough financial choices and music lessons are an viewed as an optional expense. Perhaps our gigging around the area will encourage parents, kids and school officials to make music a life priority.
If you like what we are doing, give The Daddyz a like on Facebook.
Cheers!
